Role in Brief

Opportunik Global Fund is seeking a Senior Equity Analyst with deep expertise in U.S. equities and developed markets. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in identifying both short-term tactical trades and long-term strategic positions that deliver alpha across the fund’s portfolios. This is not a passive research role. The analyst will directly influence trading and investment decisions, working closely with the Trading Unit (TU) and the Investment Management Unit (IMU) to shape Opportunik’s equity strategy and strengthen its global edge.

Roles and Responsibilities

Investment Ideation & Alpha Generation

  • Generate high-conviction short-term trading ideas (event-driven, sentiment shifts, technical dislocations) for the Trading Unit.
  • Develop robust long-term investment theses aligned with the IMU’s strategic mandates.
  • Track corporate events, earnings calendars, institutional flows, and pricing anomalies to deliver trade-ready insights.
  • Formulate views backed by clear catalysts, risk/reward parameters, and macro-themes.

 

Modeling, Valuation & Financial Diagnostics

  • Build and maintain detailed valuation models (DCF, comps, scenarios) for U.S. and DM-listed companies.
  • Analyze financial statements, forecast trends, and update assumptions in real time.
  • Perform stress testing and scenario simulations to support both short-term trades and long-term positions.
  • Identify valuation dislocations, earnings revision impacts, and competitive dynamics.

 

Macro & Sector Integration

  • Translate macroeconomic trends (inflation, rates, policy) into actionable sector and security-level views.
  • Maintain watchlists across strategic sectors such as Information Technology, Communication Services, Industrials, Real Estate, Consumer Discretionary, Financials, and Healthcare.
  • Integrate global policy shifts and market sentiment into timing strategies and trade selection.

 

Collaboration Across Trading and Investment Management Units

  • Partner with the Trading Unit to support trade execution, timing, and real-time market moves.
  • Collaborate with the Investment Management Unit to influence sector exposures, security selection, and rebalancing strategies.
  • Adapt ideas to each unit’s mandate—trading agility vs. long-term positioning.

 

Research Communication & Investment Committee Support

  • Produce concise, high-impact investment notes and trade rationales.
  • Contribute to daily and weekly alpha briefings.
  • Support Investment Committee documentation and sectoral deep dives with actionable input.
  • Participate in internal idea sessions, alpha pipelines, and quarterly review processes.

 

Leadership & Strategic Contribution

  • Set the tone for equity analysis standards across Opportunik.
  • Mentor junior team members and shape equity research processes.
  • Drive continuous refinement of Opportunik’s public equity strategy through a hands-on, results-driven approach.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field. MBA or CFA is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in equity research, proprietary trading, or buy-side analysis, focused on U.S. or developed markets.
  • Track record of generating both short-term trade ideas and long-term equity theses.
  • Experience with tools and platforms like Bloomberg, Alpine Macro, Oppenheimer, and Excel-based modeling platforms.
